Maxim Masculinity and the Re-Evaluation of Manliness

As one of the most popular “lifestyle” magazines in Canada, Maxim certainly has its appeal. With plenty of bare skin and articles ranging from “guy movie” reviews to sports and how-to-pick-up techniques, Maxim has found itself in a niche market with similar man-oriented magazines like Men’s Health, Stuff, and GQ. Of course it is well known that most magazines are part of niche market that helps to define the personal identities of those who read and subscribe to it.

Drafts

“Dammit, close that fucking door already!”

I had to force the door shut with my good foot to keep the snow from drifting in. The wind was sled-dog-cold outside; it nipped about your fingers, licked the back of your neck and howled down the back alley by the 7-11. Bashing the Bush Bashers

Okay, so it has been established that George W. Bush is a terrible president. He was elected under suspicious circumstances, has waged a war against the environment, led America into a fruitless war with Iraq simply to propel his own oil interests and move the Industrial/Military Complex forward. That being said, get over it! Last [...]
