I had always prided myself on being adaptable. Moving around a lot as a kid was certainly hard at times, but I always found myself succeeding fairly quickly after a brief period of transition; I made friends, got good grades, and found my place in a new environment.
And the Moral of the Story Is
I love telling and hearing stories. Stories are beautiful, and entertaining, and create relationships between people. When I hear or read a good story I feel like I am a part of something, I feel less alone and more complete. I feel nostalgic, or deeply content, or sort of sad, but in a good kind of way. My love of stories started when I was a kid; I grew up as a product of the bedtime story.

Are You Going to Eat That?
Christmas dinner, Sunday potlucks, birthday brunch, summer barbecues…it seems that all the important events in my life are surrounded by food. This seemed especially important growing up in a Mennonite community. Every special church event was either a potluck or a picnic, so as a kid I came to associate community and friends with meals.
